Avoiding stress is all about taking charge: taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment, and the way you deal with problems.   • Organize
    Once you've prioritized what you want done first, the next step in stress management is execution. Organize yourself, your work and your house chores. Don't come home from work and slump in front of the television first. See what needs to be done and then, you can unwind. Also, when at work, see how much time each project/work assignment will take and take your breaks accordingly, so that everything goes smoothly and you don't end up fretting and getting stressed out at the last minute. Definitely one of the simple and effective ways of relieving stress at work.

  • Eat Right
    Food is the source of our energy. They say you are what you eat. So if all you eat consists of greasy burgers and stale fries, then that is what you'll become and look like too! Usually, due to long working hours, all a person eats consists of microwave reheated food and junk food. When a person eats a lot of food that is high in sugars and carbohydrates at once, he/she feels a 'sugar rush' which mostly wears off after a while leaving you with low energy and confidence levels. So, don't become a victim of stress eating. Instead, try to divide your meals properly, eat at the right times and eat healthy food consisting of green leafy vegetables.

  • Sleep Tight
    Our body is working for us 24/7. It never complains or doesn't abruptly stop functioning when it's stressed. So the least you can do in return is sleep well and properly for at least seven to eight hours. Sleeping is the only time when your brain gets any kind of rest. So, it is imperative to ensure that you sleep well, so that you wake up the next morning feel fresh and full of energy. But more than anything else, it is said that yoga helps to relieve the mind of all its stress. There is specific type of stress relief yoga as well that exists and helps you to rid your body of any accumulated stress. Yoga helps to calm the mind and soul that is forever moving at a fast pace.   • Pursue Your Passion
    Some people like to paint. Others like to draw. Whereas some have a hidden Shakespeare in them. What is that one thing you always wanted to do but never found the time? Do it now. If you like to write, go out and buy an expensive diary and pen, so that you will consciously ensure that it doesn't just lie in your house.   • Let Go
    They say the heaviest baggage in the world is emotional baggage. You keep carrying it around from one place to another. Grudges against enemies, grudges against acquaintances, grudges against in-laws... the list is endless. In the end, you'll realize (most likely the hard way) that the only one suffering in the midst of this vicious cycle is yourself. So, learn to let go because hatred breeds hatred.     There are a few things that everyone does that make them happy. Some people like to write. Others, whenever stressed simply turn to some shopping therapy. It all depends on what makes you happy. Go ahead and do that. Catch up with long lost friends. Go and get a pedicure. Get your nails done. Indulge yourself in something fruitful (no binge eating though). Some people feel happy when they make others happy. Call up your grandmom. Or visit an orphanage to realize how lucky you are to have a family. Do whatever makes you happy, because happiness comes to those that go out and seek it.

All of the above points may not fit into your itinerary and you may feel that a life where you exercise regularly, eat right and stay fit can only happen in your dreams'.
